You Can Use Mobile Broadband EverywhereBut Should You?

If you have recently jumped on the mobile broadband bandwagon, you are probably enjoying your new found ability to get online anytime and anywhere. In fact, if you are like some people, you may have even begun to take this constant Internet access a bit too far. There is a time and a place for everything, and in some situations it is not appropriate to be surfing the web just because you can. The following list is of places where you will want to resist the urge to take out your phone or laptop and check your email.

1. Your potential boss office. For some people, job interviews are moments of extreme stress and sweaty palms. Other people find themselves to be more at ease when trying to convince someone else to hire them. While it is important to be confident and get along with your potential employer, make sure you keep things professional and do not start playing with or showing off your new 4G phone.

2. Church. Regardless of whether it is your spirituality or your guilt that gets you to a church, it is important to be respectful of the other people around you and keep your phone off. You may not go to Hell for checking out baseball scores while the preacher is talking, but you will get on the nerves of those who are trying to pray.

3. A movie theater. This one should be somewhat of a no brainer, but some people think that they can use their 4G phone during a movie as long as it is not making noise. The truth is that the light projected from your screen can be as distracting for those around you as the sound of your voice. So do everyone a favor and turn it off.

4. The classroom. This is a good rule of thumb for teachers as well as their students. You may be able to learn a lot from the Internet, but save it for homework.

5. A courtroom. Using a cell phone whether to make a call or access your mobile broadband account in a courtroom is a big no-no, regardless of whether you are a witness, the defendant, a lawyer, a juror, or just a spectator.

6. A first date. If you want to leave a good first impression on a potential romantic partner, do so by making eye contact and being dynamic. Even if you decide halfway through dinner that you are not interested in the other person, be respectful and keep your 4G phone in your pocket or purse until the end of the night.

7. A wedding ceremony (yours or someone elses).

8. A cemetary. A funeral is a time to say goodbye to someone who has died, and even if you did not like the person all that much, they deserve your respect in this moment.

9. Your psychologists office. The whole point of going to a psychologist is to focus on your problems and concentrate on working through them. Using mobile broadband in the middle of a session will not be very productive.

10. The bathroom. It is just not hygienic.
