This Non-Yeast Version of Polish Doughnuts Can Be Made Into Funnel Cakes
This is a non-yeast version of Polish bismarcks or doughnuts, known as paczki. They take much less time because the dough doesn't have to rise.
In Polish, they are known as chruscik lany (KROOSS-cheek LAH-nih) and are similar to Polish chrusciki except the dough isn't rolled out. It is more of a batter that is swirled into the hot oil from a funnel or pitcher, a lot like the funnel cakes you find at county fairs.
They are delicious dusted with confectioners' sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon sugar, or topped with fruit topping and whipped cream like Belgian waffles. Unlike county fair funnel cakes, these stay crisp and can be eaten hot or cold.
