Chow down these great party recipes on Super Bowl Sunday

1

Cheering your team and booing the opposing team are only part of the fun on Super Bowl Sunday. Chowing down great party foods also adds to the big sports day. These recipes run the gamut from Buffalo wings to sausage rolls to guacamole to mini-pizzas.  They're all easy to make and can be prepared ahead.

Mini Pizzas

Super simple and quick! Purchase ready to bake frozen cheese pizzas. (Costco sells excellent pizzas that come four to a box, which will make plenty of mini pizzas.)

Some suggested toppings:
  • Smoked or pre-cooked sausage
  • Sliced pepperoni
  • Sliced pre-cooked meatballs
  • Extra mozzarella
  • Sliced cherry tomatoes and sliced basil

Let the pizzas defrost enough that you can cut them. Using a 3-inch biscuit cutter, cut out 10 to 12 pizza rounds. Preheat the oven to instructions, usually about 375°.  Top each pizza with a couple slices of sausage or pepperoni or meatball or sliced cherry tomatoes and basil. Sprinkle with a little extra mozzarella, if desired.  Arrange on a baking sheet, and bake until pizzas are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

Chicken Wings

Super easy to cook. Simply toss the chicken wings with a little oil and salt and pepper, then bake 40 minutes. Combine the cooked wings in a large bowl with one of the sauces in these recipes and serve.

Sausage Rolls

Any type of fresh sausage can be used in this recipe.  Depending on what kind you use, serve the sausage rolls with a good honey mustard or spicy mustard.

Tacos

One of the most enjoyable parties for a host is letting the guests do the work themselves. Who doesn't love tacos? Fillings for tacos range from vegetables to fish and seafood to any variety of meat and poultry. Toppings can be just about anything: crunchy romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced jalapenos, refried beans or black beans or cheese. Whatever you come up with, it can pretty much be stuffed into a taco. Here are a few recipes for taco fillings.

Guacamole and Nachos

This award-winning recipe makes a guacamole that's far superior to anything you might buy at a supermarket. Serve with tortillas chips or this great recipe for Beef-Chorizo Nachos.
