Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Get your Social Security number -- and your spouse's Social Security number in the event you filed a joint return. Call the IRS line dedicated for tax return transcripts by dialing 800-908-9946. Listen to the prompts.
2
Press "1" on your telephone for English or "2" for Spanish. Enter your Social Security number. After the recording reads it back to you, press "1" on the phone pad if it is correct.
3
Select the "1" if you filed a joint return or "2" if you did not file a joint return. Enter the Social Security of your spouse if necessary. Press "1" if the recording reads it correctly.
4
Verify your address by entering the numbers of your street address. For instance, if your address is 2150 West St., enter "2150."
5
Request the transcript by pressing "1." Enter the year for the tax return request, such as 2010. You can request up to seven years of tax return transcripts at a time. When you are finished, press "#."
