Having a baby is a very exciting time. There is so much to do to prepare for the little one's arrival, from decorating the room to registering. So often when a baby is expected, the mom-to-be is showered with gifts for herself and for the baby. Don't leave the dad out in the cold when it comes to gift giving for a baby. There are several clever and useful gifts that the dad-to-be will appreciate. - So often it's the moms who are doted on and given advice when they are expecting a baby. Dads need advice, too. Help to prepare him for the new addition to the home by giving him reference books full of advice. Some books to consider include, "The Expectant Father," "They Joy of Fatherhood" and "Babyhood." The dad-to-be will be thankful for these reference materials.
- Prepare daddy for diaper duty with a diaper tool belt. Purchase a tool belt and goggle from a home supply store. Also purchase diapers, baby wipes, plastic gloves, Ziploc bags, tongs to grab the dirty diaper, clothespins for the nose and any other product you can think of that dad may need to successfully change baby's diaper. Affix all of these goodies to the tool belt. Not only will the future dad get a good laugh with this gag gift, he may also actually find it handy.
- Moms have their diaper bags to conveniently tote around all of the necessities that they need for baby. Dads, too, need a way to carry around baby gear. A diaper vest is a cool and hip way to do this. There are vests that are specially made for men that contain pockets to tuck away bottles, diapers and wipes.
- Start a family tree that dad can use as baby grows older to explain the family's heritage. You can either purchase a premade frame and insert family pictures from both mom's and dad's sides of the family, or you can create one yourself by attaching the family's pictures to a piece of poster board and framing it. Be sure to leave a spot for the new baby to be added when he is born.
- There are times when a stroller just won't work, yet baby still needs to be transported. For these times, a tote that can be worn on the back and hold the baby is ideal. These totes are worn similar to backpacks and provide dad with a comfortable and secure way to carry the baby while allowing his hands to be free.
