How to Make a Double-Crochet Beanie
- 1). Create the first loop by chaining five, then making a slip stitch in the first chain, which is the fifth from the one that your hook is currently in. Make a slip stitch by inserting the hook through the first stitch, wrapping the yarn over the hook and then pulling the yarn through the first chain and the loop that was already on your hook.
- 2). Create 10 double-crochet stitches in the loop you just formed. Make a double-crochet stitch by wrapping your yarn over your needle and inserting it in the fourth stitch from the one you are currently in. Hook the yarn and draw it through this stitch so that you now have three stitches on your needle. Wrap the yarn and draw it through the first two stitches so that you have two stitches remaining on your needle. Repeat this last step with only one stitch remaining once complete.
- 3). Repeat the double-crochet nine more times in the loop. Insert a place marker directly after the last stitch.
- 4). Create the second round of stitches by making three double-crochets in each double-crochet of the previous round.
- 5). Make the third round by creating two double-crochets in the first double-crochet and then one double-crochet in the next double-crochet. Repeat these two stitches until you reach the end of the round or the last stitch.
- 6). Create the fourth round by making two double-crochets in each double-crochet until you reach the end of the round.
- 7). Make the fifth round by doing a double-crochet in the first double-crochet and then three double-crochets in the next double-crochet. Repeat the set of stitches until you reach the end of the fifth round.
- 8). Create the sixth round by making two double-crochets in the first stitch and then four double-crochets in the next double-crochet. Repeat these stitches until you reach the end of the sixth round.
- 9). Create rounds 7 through 15 by making one double-crochet in each of the existing double-crochets of the previous round.

Finish the beanie after Round 15 by making a final round of stitches similar to a chain stitch. Insert the hook into the first double-crochet, wrap the yarn, then pull the yarn through the double-crochet and the stitch that is already on the needle. Repeat this process until you reach the end of the round. - 11
Tie off your work after the final round, and tuck the loose yarn into your work to hide it.
