Information on the Minx Cat
- MessyBeast.com, a cat breed name listing created independently of any registries, lists the Minx as a non-existent breed of cat.
- The Manx is a recognized cat breed of the Cat Fanciers' Association. Because of a genetic mutation, these cats, which originated on the Isle of Man, are tailless.
- A Minx or Mynx is sometimes used colloquially to describe a first-generation cross of a Manx and a Sphynx (also a recognized breed), which is a hairless cat.
- Minx may also be used to refer to the hybrid of a Manx cat and a wild bobcat. Wild bobcats, about twice the size of a housecat, are the smallest of the Lynx genus.
- The term Minx has sometime been applied to miniature Manx cats, which are dwarf and tailless. These are not considered a separate breed, however.
