How to Get a North Carolina Birth Certificate Online
- 1). Go to the VitalChek website (see References). Select the bullet for "Birth certificates" and click "Continue" to proceed with your order.
- 2). Specify whether your order is for yourself or for another person. If you are requesting a birth of certificate for yourself, enter your current legal name. If you are requesting a birth certificate for someone else, entire the person's name on the birth certificate.
- 3). Select "North Carolina" as the state of birth and click "Continue." Next, input the city you were born in by scrolling through the drop-down box. When finished, click "Continue." You may also be asked to verify the county.
- 4). Use the drop-down boxes to input the date of birth. You will then be prompted to provide a reason for requesting a birth certificate; select the closest answer from the drop-down box and choose "Continue."
- 5). Determine whether you need a certified or uncertified copy, and click "Select" for the type of birth certificate needed. You are then notified of the parties that may receive a certified copy of a birth certificate; if you do not meet the criteria of one of these persons, you will be sent an uncertified copy.
- 6). Verify the number of copies that are needed; click "Continue" to proceed. If you are ordering a birth certificate for another person, input your name and your relationship.
- 7). Confirm the name on the certificate. Select the person's sex and indicate whether the person is still living. Click "Continue," then enter the name of the father and mother.
- 8). Select the method of shipping. Key in your physical, email and shipping address. Continue and confirm your billing address. Click in the check box to verify all addresses.
- 9). Enter in the appropriate credit card information. Continue in order to confirm that a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provided. The North Carolina birth certificate will be mailed out as soon as all information is verified.
