Walt Disney World is such a large company and has been a topic of many chat rooms, bulletin boards and common gossip. Some of the rumors are true, while others are just a myth that keeps being passed around as fact. There are various myths about Walt Disney World ranging from buildings, guests, cast members and Walt Disney himself, all of which are just rumors that have survived decades.

    Seven Seas Lagoon

    • It has been rumored that during one of Walt Disney World’s Grad Nite, a night when seniors are invited to participate in a graduation party at Disney, a cast member died when he was thrown into the Seven Seas Lagoon. The lagoon is the waterway directly in front of the Magic Kingdom Park and it is believed the cast member died when the costume’s air conditioning unit he was wearing electrocuted him when submerged in the water.

There is no record the costumed cast member was thrown in the water, nor do any of the costumes have air conditioning units in them.

    Space Mountain

    • Probably one of the most frightening myths is the one about a guest who stood up in his seat while riding Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom. The legend claims this guest’s head was cut off from a track above. There is no record of this incident, but during testing of the ride before it opened, Imagineers discovered a dummy’s head was severed off when placed in the standing position.

    Cinderella’s Castle

    • Many claim that Cinderella’s Castle was designed to be dismantled during a hurricane. Though the castle has been built to withstand hurricane force winds, no part of it can be taken apart. The castle is made entirely of fiberglass and definitely a solid piece of construction.

    Walt Disney

    • Disney legend claims that Walt Disney himself was cryogenically frozen and buried below Magic Kingdom. It is rumored his body is in a secret chamber buried deep beneath the tunnels of Walt Disney World. Truth has this one beat, because Disney’s body was cremated and is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.
