How to Hang Bookshelves
- 1). Set the spirit level vertically against the wall or other surface where you are hanging the bookshelf. Draw a straight vertical line along the spirit level's right side with the pencil to mark where you are hanging the bookshelf.
- 2). Line up the mounting bracket with the pencil line, and mark the bracket's holes with a pencil; these marks tell you where you need to drill the holes.
- 3). Drill through the pencil marks. Insert the wall plugs into the holes until their holes are flush with the wall.
- 4). Screw the mounting bracket into the wall plugs with the screws and the flat-head screwdriver.
- 5). Measure across with the tape measure to the other side of the wall to see where you need to attach other mounting bracket. For example, if the bookshelf's other bracket needs to be 40 inches away from the first bracket, then measure 40 inches across, and mark the spot with the pencil.
- 6). Line the spirit level up with the pencil mark, and draw a line through the mark to indicate where you are installing the next mounting bracket.
- 7). Line the bracket up with the line you just drew, make the marks through the bracket's holes with the pencil, and drill through the marks. Add the wall plugs, and screw the other bracket into the plugs with the screws and flat-head screwdriver.
- 8). Insert the bookshelf into the mounting bracket.
