How to Get Rid of Mildew Stains on Bathtub Caulking
- 1). Clean the bathtub and caulking with a commercial bathroom cleaner. Rinse the area well and do this several times if you used a cleaner that contains ammonia. Allow the bathroom to air out for an hour or two because bleach and ammonia create toxic fumes when combined.
- 2). Mix equal parts of chlorine bleach and water in a clean plastic spray bottle.
- 3). Spritz the bleach solution on the caulking and anywhere else in the bathtub that has mildew stains. Allow the solution to remain on the area for about 15 minutes.
- 4). Scrub the caulk and other tub areas with a scrub brush to remove the mildew stain. This solution works well on grout also.
- 5). Rinse the caulking and other areas of the bathtub with clear water. Wipe the caulking with an absorbent towel to speed the drying process.
