Ideas for Interior Wall Paint Design

    Texture

    • Tissue paper will add texture to your walls. This technique requires only a few items to accomplish. Apply a coat of paint to your wall, a little larger than the tissue paper. Once the paint is on the wall--and while it's still wet--crinkle your piece of tissue paper and "stick" the paper to your wall. Simply paint over the tissue paper with another coat of paint and let dry.

If you wish to give your walls an Old World feel, apply a color-washing glaze to your walls, according to the HGTV website. The final result will resemble an antique looking, textured wall.

    Strie or Dragging

    • Add a luxury appearance to your walls by painting them with the strie or drag painting technique. Strie (drag) painting will make your walls appear as if they are covered in fabric. To achieve this look, use paint, water, a paint pad and a dry paint brush. Water down your paint, as this will assure that the paint will cooperate without drying or clumping. Apply water on your paint pad, dip the paint pad into the paint and apply to your walls. Run a dry paintbrush through the wet paint to achieve horizontal and vertical markings.

    Leather

    • Create the illusion of leather on your walls with gold paint, brown paint and a glaze. Save your plastic grocery bags to complete this technique. Paint the entire wall with the gold paint, and allow drying. Mix your glaze and brown paint together. Dab your plastic grocery bag into the paint and glaze mixture. Dab the plastic bag with paint onto your walls, forming a leather appearance. Continue working until the entire wall is complete. To finish this look, apply a coat of glaze over the entire wall.

    Stripes

    • Give your room a new look by striping your walls with paint. Subtle colors or bold colors work well for this technique; this will vary depending upon your personal preference. Simply use painter's tape and tape off stripes to your width preference. Paint your stripes one color at a time; for example, paint all bold blue stripes and let dry before painting the contrasting or complimentary stripes.
