How to Recycle at Home

1
The first thing that you need to know when recycling is what really can and cannot be recycled.
With knowing what can and cannot be recycled, you can then move on to the "three R's of recycling.
" The first "R" that is used in the old saying is reduce.
There are many ways in which you can reduce the consumption of things throughout the day.
The first one that you can do to start your day of reducing is when taking a shower.
We all have that one person in the family that takes the twenty minute shower and leaves no hot water for the rest.
I for one was that person in my family.
I took those long showers and wasted all of the water.
With the state of fresh water in short supply, we need to reduce our consumption in any ways we can.
The second "R" of the saying is reuse.
Like reducing, there are many ways in which you can reuse products that are needed for our daily activities.
Now I am going to go back to subject of showering in the morning.
Last year when I was taking a class on marketing sustainable products, I came across a way of reusing the water from when you take a shower.
The article was on NASA and how in their space stations, they would capture the water that was used for showering and use that same water to use for flushing the toilets.
This can help in immense ways because you are reducing the fresh water that you are using, and you are also reusing the same water for other things.
The third and final "R" is recycle, and this, obviously is the biggest part of recycling.
There are many different things that are recyclable, and like I said earlier, you have to know what is and what is not recyclable.
The first thing that you should be recycling is the food scraps that you don't eat.
Composting is one of the easiest forms of recycling that you can do.
If you compost, you can then use those nutrients to possibly grow your own food if you have your own garden, which is one of the most efficient things that you can do.
You don't have to spend money on food that has been processed or filled with preservatives.
If you don't have your own personal garden, then you could possible give the composting to your neighbors or friends that do have gardens.
