Few Steps in Fixing Closet Doors

1
Sliding closet doors can be opened with the use of only one hand.
But over time, sliding them will eventually require much effort.
The doors can come off track making it harder for you to slide them back and forth.
When this happens, it's about time to get it repaired.
If you're handy with tools, you can fix the doors all by yourself to save money from hiring a repairman.
Before proceeding with the door fixing, wear a facemask and goggles for protection from dust and dirt.
Turn on the lights and raise curtains if possible in order to have brighter lighting to help you see and locate the problem easily.
Things You Needed:
  • Screwdrivers
  • Flashlight
  • Vacuum Cleaner
  • WD-40
Instructions -
  1. Get the flashlight and determine the problem of the cause.
  2. If the doors aren't sliding smoothly, it's probably fuzz got stuck on the wheels.
Fuzz usually comes from collective amount of dust and other micro dirt which wraps around the wheels over the years.
Look at the wheels and see if there is fuzz.
Fuzz can be easily removed with fingers or by using tweezers.
  3. Next, check on the guide of the closet doors.
Many things can get in there accidentally.
Lose the dirt by using a vacuum cleaner.
  4. Check for more dirt with the use of a screwdriver.
Slide the blade of screwdriver along the track and feel if it can get something.
If it does, scrape it off using the screwdriver or some form of brush.
  5. Spray some WD-40 on the closet's wheels.
And though it may be unnecessary, you may also spray some along the track to penetrate dirt.
  6. Check the door if it's already gliding smoothly.
If not, raise the entire doors of closet to determine other problems.
  7. After using for many years, the doors will eventually drop down and loosen from the hangers located on top of the doors.
These hangers can be tightened with the screwdriver so the doors could be lifted and placed on their original position.
  8. Sometimes, the problem could occur when the flooring was replaced with a new one.
This will cause the track to bend and get out of proportion.
You can use the screwdriver to place the track back in its original place.
  9. Once the doors are placed back on the track, with wheels and track initially cleaned, your doors will glide as smoothly as when it was newly installed.
