How to Add a Sprayer to a Kitchen Sink
- 1). Turn off the water supply valves inside the sink cabinet.
- 2). Remove the plug in your sink surround where the sprayer will be installed. Usually this pops out by pushing up from the bottom.
- 3). Insert the sprayer-hole flange from the top. Screw the plastic nut onto the flange from the underside. The sprayer-hole flange protects the hole and houses the sprayer when it is not in use.
- 4). Unscrew the cap on the end of the small faucet pipe using an adjustable wrench. Wrap the threads of the pipe end with lampwick (similar to cotton thread) and coat the threads with pipe dope. Screw on a universal fitting.
- 5). Select a 1/8-inch pipe nipple (often included with a sprayer kit). Wrap the threads on each end of the pipe with lampwick and coat with pipe dope. Screw one end into the universal fitting, and screw a 90-degree angle pipe to the other end. Tighten all fittings with a basin wrench. The elbow needs to face the direction of the new sprayer.
- 6). Insert the sprayer, hose first, through the flange on the top of the counter or sink. Bring the hose to the elbow fitting. Wrap the threads of the hose end with lampwick and coat with pipe dope. Screw the end into the elbow and tighten with an adjustable wrench. The sprayer should face forward or toward the sink.
- 7). Turn on your water valves under the sink and wait to see if you have any leaks. Try the sprayer to make sure it is working correctly.
