How to Get Rid of Ear Mites

2
    • 1). Coat the inside of your pet's ear with mineral oil. Mineral oil can be purchased at your local grocery store in the cooking section.

The oil will suffocate any ear mites currently living on the skins surface. You can apply the oil with an eye dropper or by dabbing it on with a cotton ball. Make sure to thoroughly cover the entire inside of your pet's ear. A little extra oil won't hurt, it actually helps loosen and remove ear wax as well.

    • 2). Rub the mineral oil into your pets ears. Ear mites are microscopical, so you will need to ensure that every inch of your pets ear is coated with mineral oil. Let the oil soak in for 24 hours.

    • 3). The next day, apply a second coat of mineral oil to the ear. However, this time use a Q-tip and wipe away any crusty build up from your dog or cats ear mite rash (dried puss, blood) that have softened from the oil.

The second application will eliminate any ear mites that survived the first dose.

    • 4). Let the mineral oil naturally dry by itself. Avoid wiping the oil off with a cloth. If you are worried about excess oil getting on your carpet or upholstery, perform this procedure outdoors.
