Video Games

• Most netbooks include a small, built-in graphics card that uses very little power and does not have its own memory. They also have relatively low-speed processors and less memory than their larger counterparts, causing resource-heavy games to lag and skip. Some games offer a "netbook mode" that reduces resource expenditure and makes the game playable. Others will run slowly or not at all.
  
  

Multimedia

• As their name implies, netbooks are designed primarily for online use. However, not everything on the Internet works well with these machines. Multimedia, including streaming video, Flash games, streaming music and other real-time media often runs slowly or jerkily. The built-in graphics card on many netbooks and these computers reduced memory means that they don't have the capacity to display multimedia smoothly. When possible, allow streaming video or other media to download fully before watching them.
  
  

Sluggishness

• When running several programs at once, netbook owners may notice that their computers are slower and sluggish-feeling, even on simple tasks like switching between programs. These computers' reduced RAM (often 1 GB or less) makes multitasking more difficult than on a full-sized laptop. Consider upgrading the computer's RAM or avoiding running background programs such as media players and game networks.
  
  

Typing

• Even typing on many netbooks works more slowly than the same operation on a larger laptop. This is usually due to keyboard size and arrangement, rather than a memory or CPU limitation. Most netbooks have screens 12 inches across or smaller; screens on most laptops usually start around 13 inches. This smaller size increases portability, but reduces the available keyboard width, requiring manufacturers to shrink and move keys. Users with large hands often experience significant difficulty typing on netbooks. People with smaller hands may be able to type but at a reduced speed not suitable for word processing.
