Being pregnant can be a wonderful experience, not just in terms of the fact that everyone you know and love are incredibly excited about welcoming the new baby into the world but also in terms of how you feel. If you are one of those women who are lucky enough to be told that you are "glowing" on a daily basis and have minimum problems when it comes to morning sickness, then you will probably find that these 9 months will be some of the best you will ever have.

Whilst you are pregnant, your body will go through changes both physically and emotionally that will be unlike anything else you have known before. That first kick is a truly amazing experience and the men of this world will never have the chance to know what it feels like to have another human being grow inside you. The best they can get from this is to feel your tummy when your unborn child is on the move, or, in the latter stages of pregnancy watch as that little hand reaches out under the skin of your stomach, almost as if to say "hi".

The downside, and this is only temporary, is what you go through once your little bundle of joy decides to make an appearance. Suddenly, your body does not have the benefit of all those extras in terms of health when carrying a child. Sure, you will be glad that you have not got the extra weight to carry around anymore and your pelvis will finally re-align itself so that every step you take isn't pure agony. However, given the hormonal and physical changes that have taken place over the last 9 months; it can be hard to adjust.

Everyone knows about the "baby blues" and there is not a woman that has had a child that has not suffered from this to a certain degree. You're exhausted after giving birth, your hormones are raging as they adjust to not having to house your baby anymore and you are getting precious little sleep. This may all sound terrifying, but believe me, you will get over it.

The best thing you can do is get back into the swing of things, join a mother and baby group, you'll be surprised at just how many other mothers have the same problems you do and "a problem shared is a problem solved". You will be active enough looking after your new baby however, there are at least 3 things you need to make sure you can do in order to not put yourself under anymore strain than is necessary. Make sure that you learn how to nurse your baby, this will not only help the bond between you both grow but will also teach you to be more confident in handling your little bundle. Make sure you get a routine in place as soon as possible. You may not believe this but babies catch on pretty quickly when it comes to wailing just so you will pick them up.
