Pregnancy & Baby - While You Are Pregnant Prepare to Give Potty Opportunities to Your Baby
Pregnancy Preparation When I first heard about 'diaper free' babies I noticed some resistance coming up for me at the idea of using a potty with tiny babies.
My first impression was that it sounded like over enthusiastic parents pushing babies to acquire skills they are not ready for.
Thankfully, I have come to realise now that embracing my resistance always opens doors into new delights.
So I began to read about Elimination Communication during the pregnancy.
Elimination Communication I liked the ideas behind Elimination Communication.
The intention is not to potty train your baby.
Rather is it about tuning into your baby's communication and responding to that.
I loved the gentleness of it and we both felt excited about trying this approach with our twin girls.
A few weeks ago we decided to order the potties.
And we presented them for the first time when they were 3 and a half months old.
When they awoke we placed them on the potties.
Within a couple of minutes we could hear them urinating.
I was in shock.
I never thought it could be that easy.
Surely this was just a coincidence.
However, very often now when we put them on they have a pee.
When we hear the sound we make a 'pshhh' sound to help them to tune into what is happening.
It doesn't matter to me when they are toilet trained.
I just love the idea of helping my girls tune into their bodily functions and to feel comfortable letting go of what they don't need with ease and freedom.
These are messages that I really want them to have in their cells.
You can get ready during pregnancy to pave the way for your baby to tune into her bodily functions, to release what she doesn't need and to use the potty with ease and delight.
