How to donate for animals
- 1). Decide if you would like to donate to a charity that helps animals in the UK or abroad. While there are many UK-based organisations that help pets, wildlife and strays, animal legislation abroad can be less strict than in the UK, and more and more charities are being set up to help in these countries. These charities range from ones that can neuter feral dogs to ones that set up wildlife sanctuaries for endangered species.
- 2). Consider if there is a particular group of animals you would like to help or a cause you are passionate about. These could include wildlife conservation, preventing testing on animals, or rest homes for former race horses. Animal charities cover a huge range of areas, such as rescuing abused animals, offering subsidised veterinary treatment to pet owners in financial difficulty and caring for sick and injured wildlife.
- 3). Narrow your list of possible charities by deciding if you want to donate to a local charity or a national one. National charities include Dogs Trust, the RSPCA, Blue Cross and Cats Protection. There are also many smaller local, independent charities in each region of the UK.
- 4). Work out what you would like to donate. Money is the obvious choice and can be donated in a lump some or monthly by setting up a direct debit from your bank account. Some charities are also looking for people to volunteer their time to help in fundraising, cleaning premises and dog walking. Others accept donations of pet food, bedding, toys and even office equipment and stationary.
- 5). Contact the charity you have chosen by getting details from its website or from directory inquiries and make your donation.
