Changing the Administrator Password

• 1). Connect your computer to your Dir-300 router with an Ethernet cable to ensure that your connection cannot be broken. Open your Internet browser and type your router's IP address into the address bar. By default, the router's IP is "192.168.0.1". Press "Enter."
  
  
• 2). Log into your router using the default administrator account and password. Type "admin" into the "User Name" field and leave the "Password" field blank.
  
  
• 3). Click on "Maintenance" and select "Admin Setup" from the left sidebar menu. Enter and confirm a password in the "Administrator" section. If you want to change the login username, enter a new name into the "Login Name" box before clicking "Save Settings" to apply the changes. Whenever you log into your router, you will use your new username and password.
  
  

Changing the Wireless Password

• 1). Connect your computer to your DIR-300 router with an Ethernet cable to ensure that your connection cannot be broken. Open your Internet browser and type your router's IP address into the address bar.
  
  
• 2). Log into your router using the router's administrative login information. If you have setup an administrative account, use the username and password you created. If you have not setup an administrative account, enter "admin" as the "User Name" and leave the "Password" field blank.
  
  
• 3). Click on "Setup" and select "Launch Wireless Security Setup Wizard" to begin securing your wireless network. Click "Next" and give your wireless network a name. This name will appear next to the wireless signal strength when a computer searches for wireless networks. Click "Next."
  
  
• 4). Select an encryption method for your wireless network. The D-Link Dir-300 offers three levels of security; select "WEP," "WPA" or "WPA2" to enable a secure network. Click "Next."
  
  
• 5). Enter a password into the "Wireless Security Password" and click "Next." The setup wizard will display a "Pre-shared Key" or a "WEP Key," depending on the security level you selected. Any computer wanting to connect to your wireless network will need this key to connect, so make sure to copy it down and keep it in a safe place. Click "Save" to apply wireless security.
