Since Labor Day is the official last holiday of summer and the unofficial start to the new school year, you want to serve something special. This menu is easy but special enough to be celebratory. It features some of the best foods of summer. Salmon burgers are a nice change from the usual summer party fare. I always serve my mom's potato salad at any summer gathering. And the corn mixed with pesto (use fresh corn cut off the cob; it tastes so much better!) is the perfect way to mix summer with fall.

Labor Day Salmon Burgers Menu

• Baked Brie with Curried Chutney
  This fabulous appetizer is the perfect blend of flavors and textures. The brie melts in the oven, and the spicy and sweet curry and chutney combination adds a wonderful note. Serve it with toasted or grilled baguette slices, crackers, and apple and pear slices brushed with a bit of lemon.
• Salmon Burgers
  I just love these burgers. They're like beef burgers but ten times better. And they're served on toasted English muffins, which are the best burger holders, in my opinion. The Muenster cheese melted onto the burgers is fabulous too.
• My Mother's Potato Salad
  If you haven't yet made this potato salad, please do! It is the best ever. There's something about the combination of mayo, Miracle Whip, milk, and mustard that makes an incredible dressing. It's a must at every cookout.
• Pesto Corn Salad
  This recipe couldn't be easier. If you use fresh corn, it will take longer. But with fresh or frozen corn, it's a gorgeous and delicious side salad.

• Best Berry Salad
  Use the best berries you can find in this luscious salad. The simple dressing complements the sweet and tart berries. In fact, make a trip to the farmers market to find local berries, which are even sweeter!
