More of the Strangest Lorry Loads Ever Carried

2
It is quite common for lorry drivers to transport frozen produce, household furniture and sports goods from one place to the next. However, there are some customers with strangely unique demands with regards to the movement of loads. A selection of the weirdest packages we have heard of are highlighted in this article.

Whale Carcass

One can only imagine the look on the face of a Taiwanese driver who was asked to transport a dead whale along the roads of South East Asia. However, his day became even stranger, as the whale exploded during the journey! The subsequent cleaning job took more than 13 hours to complete.

Mackerel

There was another fishy surprise in store for an unsuspecting lorry driver last year. He was transporting loads of mackerel to a destination in Northern Ireland when his truck overturned. The fish were deposited into the field of a disgruntled local farmer. Apparently the fishy smell emanated to the surrounding villages for quite a while!

Artificial Blood

An American driver had a horrible shock when he lost control of his HGV along the roads of Texas. His fellow motorists may also have been surprised to see loads of fake blood pouring from the truck. Thankfully there were no hungry vampires in Texas at the time!

A Passionate Lover

Avid television watchers will undoubtedly have come across a number of programmes showcasing the exploits of dumb Americans. A prime example involved a loved up guy who decided to wrap himself up for dispatch to his girlfriend. Unfortunately he hadn't accounted for the lack of manoeuvrability or air inside the cardboard box. He was apparently extremely distressed upon arrival - no surprise there!

Honey Bees

There have been repeated instances of lorry drivers being asked to deliver potentially dangerous loads over the years. Back in 2011, a particularly unfortunate haulage worker was given the task of transporting millions of honeybees. They escaped during a crash and started stinging nearby pedestrians and motorists. The driver was very lucky to escape with his life.

Bull Semen

There have been some particularly nasty loads mentioned in this article. However, bull semen would definitely come top of the stomach-churning list. This cargo was being being transported via bus across America. Unfortunately the containers were discarded and rolled down the interstate. The semen, which had a value of just under 50,000 was later deemed unsuitable for the purpose of insemination.

Cows

A group of cows may have sensed their impending fate when being loaded into a truck in Russia. However, they were able to set off on the journey for freedom after the vehicle was involved in an accident. The driver made a recovery. It is unknown whether he was later able to track down the livestock.
