Accessorise Your Bathroom Shower Suite

4
If you've bought a bathroom shower suite, you'll have your toilet, basin, and shower enclosure all ready to be installed.
But what else might you need? First of all, and such an essential that it really doesn't deserve to be discussed in an article pertaining to accessories, is your shower system.
Shower enclosures or cubicles are usually sold as an enclosure only; sometimes the shower tray is included, sometimes it isn't.
Generally the shower waste will not be included, and rarely will the shower system itself be part of the package.
This is because there are so many varieties on offer when it comes to the shower system, catering to a range of practical considerations and to suit individual bathroom aesthetics, too.
So, what is your home water supply system like? Is it gravity fed (with a hot water tank in the loft) or do you have a combi boiler which heats water as and when you need it, taking your supply from the mains directly through to the tap or shower head? Some shower systems require a minimum level of pressure, so if you have low pressure in your home you'll need to look at solutions to this, such as a pump to strengthen the water pressure or a system that can handle the low pressure as it stands.
Is this your only bathroom? If your main shower is elsewhere, perhaps you'd like to consider treating this shower as a back-up resource in more ways than one.
As well as providing an additional showering facility for peak times, it may be a good idea to add an electric shower here.
This way, if your boiler is broken, you've got the electric shower still working and allowing your family to function normally.
Aesthetically speaking, is your shower room an ultramodern space where a shower with LED mood lighting and a remote control would suit your lifestyle? Or have you gone down the route of a traditional bathroom suite, which would be complemented by an old style, fixed riser shower with large monsoon head, exposed pipes, and cross head taps? Then it's time to move on to the real accessories of the shower suite.
Perhaps a touch of luxury for you could be a heated towel radiator next to the shower enclosure? Various styles are available, from traditional to contemporary, and you can choose to plumb your radiator into your home's central heating system, or add an electrically powered version that can be controlled separately (handy in summer, when you want just a quick blast of warmth to dry out your damp towels).
The usual range of matching bathroom accessories (towel rail, robe hook, toilet roll holder, tumbler and holder, toothbrush stand...
) can bring a coordinated finish to your shower room; add a coordinated basket in your shower enclosure to keep your hair and body products in order, too.
