Harold's Chicken Shack

• Harold's Chicken Shack was established on Chicago's South Side in the 1950s and was the first black-owned fast- food chain in Chicago. Dozens of Chicken Shacks now operate throughout Chicago. A typical dinner includes a half or quarter chicken with French fries, bread and coleslaw. If you want to eat chicken the way Chicagoans do, drizzle a little hot sauce over the chicken and fries.
