2005 Acura Tl Vehicle Fuel Type
- The 2005 Acura TL sedan offered high performance coupled with an innovative design. Honda refurbished the vehicle to add a more powerful engine among a host of other upgrades. The ultimate selling proposition of this vehicle was its superior performance in the harshest conditions and its plush interior, complete with a state-of-the-art surround-sound system. Among the engine's stringent requirements for continued enhanced performance was its need for premium unleaded 91-octane fuel.
- In the United States, 91 is the maximum octane fuel available. In parts of the country at a higher altitude, the engine manages to draw in less air mass since the air is not dense enough. Due to the lower air intake, the amount of fuel must become proportionately less to avoid causing an engine knock. Cars designed to achieve greater fuel economy must burn less fuel per cycle --- hence the need for high-octane fuel like premium unleaded 91 fuel. This optimized fuel type reduces fuel consumption while preventing the cost of producing extremely high-octane fuel.
- The 2005 Acura TL came equipped with a 3.2-liter, V-6 front engine. It has a bore of 3.5 inches and a stroke of 3.38 inches. The engine had an overhead camshaft (OHC) valve design and a compression ratio of 11 to 1. It came with four valves per cylinder and offered variable valve timing (VVT). Capable of producing a maximum of 270 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, it could generate 238 foot-lbs. of torque at 5,000 rpm.
- The vehicle boasted a fuel economy of 29 miles per gallon (mpg) on the highways and 20 mpg on the urban streets. The vehicle had a multipoint type fuel-injection system and came with a 16.9-gallon main fuel tank for premium unleaded fuel.
