How to Hand Pollinate Desert Roses
- 1). Pull the flower petals apart to reach the center of the flower.
- 2). Scoop the pollen from the center of the flower, located under the hairy filaments, with a toothpick. The pollen looks like white or light yellow grains.
- 3). Pull apart the petals of a flower on a second plant and brush the pollen against the stigma in the center of the flower. The stigma is a silvery-white structure beneath the pollen chamber. Rub the pollen against the flat, receptive surface under the bulbous cap on the opposite side of the pollen chamber.
- 4). Close the flower petals around the center of the flower and tape the petals back together to hold the pollen in place.
