Gifts for a 90th Birthday
- By the time you turn 90, you've received lots of birthday gifts. Give that special person turning 90 a gift that is out of this world---name a star after her through the International Star Registry. This fun, symbolic gift will demonstrate the thought and care you put into selecting the perfect gift for a special person.
Purchase a certificate announcing the commemorative star or you can select special jewelry and even stuffed animals to mark the occasion. Make the occasion extra special and offer to take the birthday celebrant on a trip to the local planetarium to view the special star named after her. - Have his 90th birthday reported in the local town and city newspapers and create a special scrapbook containing the newspaper clippings. Generate a press release to send to all the local newspapers in your area. Include the celebrant's outstanding achievements and a little history of his life.
If the birthday honoree is from another town, send your release to local papers from his childhood city. Add a special cover sheet explaining your gift intention along with a photo.
Send your release two or three months prior to his birthday to give the newspaper time to publish your release. Track every paper that received your release so that you can catch his birthday announcement. Ask family and friends to assist you in tracking newspapers, too. Cut out every article and place them in a special decorative scrapbook. - Celebrate the birthday honoree's life and accomplishments with a lifetime of photos and music packed into an entertaining DVD. This do-it-yourself 90th birthday project may take some time, but it is well worth it when you see the look on the celebrant's face when it's played. Both PCs and Macintosh computers offer programs to create audio and video DVDs.
Enlist family and friends to help gather photos and important documents throughout that special someone's life. Look for a birth certificate, baby photos, photos of grandparents, parents, childhood pets, childhood friends and siblings. Include as many photos of relatives and special friends and occasions as possible.
Select time-appropriate music. For example, choose music from the 1920s or 1930s when childhood photos are on display. Weave music from the 1950s during the her years of adulthood and continue through the years to play her favorite music from today.
