How to Alkalize Soup
- 1). Chop a clove of garlic, some onion or cleaned leeks and a few stalks of celery. Add them to a pot with homemade or packaged vegetable broth. These savory vegetables are all considered alkaline and will add extra flavor to the soup stock.
- 2). Use chopped carrots, cabbage, spinach, lima beans, zucchini, turnip or green beans as the main components of your soup. Simmer the soup until the vegetables are soft.
- 3). Garnish the soup with a few drops of flax seed oil or olive oil and some finely minced chives just before eating.
- 1). Cook and puree berries, mangoes, cantaloupe, cucumber or watermelon to make a creamy dessert soup. Use kale, pumpkin, broccoli, artichoke hearts or broccoli for a savory cream soup.
- 2). Add nonsweetened soy milk or almond milk to the puree until it reaches the consistency you prefer.
- 3). Chill dessert soups. Slowly warm savory cream soups, but do not boil them or the soy/almond milk might separate.
- 4). Sweeten dessert soups with a small sprinkle of stevia plant sweetener, if needed.
- 5). Garnish both sweet and savory soups with finely chopped almonds, flax seeds or sesame seeds.
