How to Dismantle a Kenmore Dryer
- 1). Unplug the dryer from the electrical outlet. Slide the dryer out from the wall. Remove the dryer vent from the back of the dryer by loosening the retaining screw on the vent's clamp. Slide the vent off the dryer's exhaust port.
- 2). Remove the hex nuts holding the dryer's rear panel in place. Slide the rear panel off to the side of the dryer.
- 3). Slide the lint tray out of the dryer's top panel. Remove the two Phillips screws inside the lint tray opening.
- 4). Raise the dryer's top panel by using a putty knife to pry the panel up and release the retaining clips on each side of the panel.
- 5). Remove the screws along the inside edges of the front panel. Unplug the door switch wiring harness. Pull the top of the front panel toward you and lift it up to release the panel's bottom spring clips. Slide the front panel off to the side.
- 6). Reach under the drum and press in on the idler arm located in front of the dryer's motor. Pressing in on the arm releases the belt's tension. Remove the belt from the motor pulley and slide the belt off of the drum.
- 7). Lift the back end of the drum up and slide it forward out of the dryer.
