How to Make a Fancy Sports Shirt
- 1). Browse the web for clip art or logos suitable for your sports shirt. Right click on the mouse to save the image.
- 2). Open a word processing or photo editing program. Insert the logo or clip art. Type in your text and customize the page with relevant team colors.
- 3). Flip the image before printing. This must be done so the image appears correctly on the shirt. Depending on your computer and the program you are using, you can either flip the image in the editing software or from the print options.
- 4). Print the page on iron-on transfer paper. Iron-on transfer paper can be purchased for both light and dark colored clothing.
- 5). Cut along the edge of the image. Discard the rest of the paper.
- 1). Preheat the iron on an ironing board or heat resistant surface. Do not use the steam setting on the iron. It will damage the iron-on transfer.
- 2). Place the image on your shirt, face down. Slide a preheated iron over the top of the transfer paper. For lighter shirts, hold the iron in one place for five seconds before moving to another area. For darker shirts, hold the iron in one place for 12 seconds before moving to another area.
- 3). Sew or iron on patches. Patches come in both forms.
- 4). Cut out letters, numbers or shapes with scissors from fabric and felt pieces. Sew your designs on the jersey or T-shirt.
- 5). Create stripes, bows or other shapes with ribbon. Use a sewing machine to attach the embellishments.
