How to Sew a Cowl
- 1). Measure and mark a piece of fabric that is 25 inches in length and 13 inches high. Cut out the fabric with the scissors.
- 2). Fold over both of the longest edges of the fleece fabric by 1 inch. Pin along each hem with the sewing pins. Insert the fabric into the sewing machine, and sew a single stitch, leaving a 1/2-inch seam. Remove the sewing pins as you go along. Repeat this with the other side. Felt fabrics do not require hemming.
- 3). Pin one short end of the fabric to the other short end of the fabric. Ensure that the hem you just created is folded on the outside of the fabric. Insert the cowl tube over the arm of the sewing machine, and sew along the two pieces of fabric, removing the pins as you go along.
- 4). Turn the cowl inside out, so that the hem is hidden on the inside of the cowl.
- 5). Insert the cowl over your head and arrange it to sit comfortably around your neck.
