How to Upload and Share Personal Videos
- 1). Choose a video hosting site that you would like to use to share your videos with your friends and family. You can find several options through the link in the Resources section. Keep in mind that some sites are free and some are not. Also, some sites will place limitations on the file sizes and durations of the videos that can be uploaded. YouTube, for instance, only allows videos up to 2 gigabytes (GB) or 10 minutes. (See Reference 1.)
- 2). Register for the video hosting site that you have chosen and watch its tutorial on how to upload a video. Usually, it's a simple matter of clicking an "Upload" button and then browsing your computer's file folders to show the website the particular video file to upload. When you have selected the file, click "OK," and the video should begin to upload. Just make sure the video conforms to whatever size and duration limitations are specific to your video hosting site. Let the uploading process complete. It may take several minutes or even hours depending on your Internet speed.
- 3). Copy the web link to your video that the hosting site will provide. Create an email and address it to the people with whom you want to share the video. Paste the link into the email and send it along. Anyone who receives the email will be able to click the link and watch your video.
