Epilight Laser Treatment
- Another laser treatment, PhotoDerm, was modified to develop EpiLight. In 1995, PhotoDerm was used to reduce the appearance of veins and blood vessels. A beneficial side effect to PhotoDerm treatments was that hair became less noticeable in the treated areas. The creators of EpiLight took the technology behind PhotoDerm and altered it to specifically remove hair.
- A cooling gel is applied to the desired body part. Pulses of light are concentrated on the area for up to 30 minutes, which can feel like a sting. The gel is then wiped off and so is most of the hair.
- Scars that result from acne or continuous plucking can result in darkened areas of the skin. These scars respond to EpiLight by lightening, so they are no longer visible. EpiLight treatments can also heal acne, since the treatment empties hair follicles, which cause pimples when they become clogged.
