Guide Review - The Horseless Rider-Book Review
If you have it in you to ride, nothing could be more frustrating than not being able to own your own horse. Author Barbara Burn is an experienced horsewoman who offers advice on payment and economy, finding a job with horses, finding the right horse, and different renting, leasing, part board, and co-owning options. She describes the rider's responsibility to the horse while the horse is in use and discusses trail safety, dealing with emergencies, advancing your riding skills, understanding the horse's behaviour, and the legal considerations of riding someone else's horse.
This book will be less useful for the beginner rider. But for the rider with some experience she offers many options for staying in the saddle. She also describes some best and worst case scenarios for the horseless rider, but cautions readers not to be too hasty in judging a stable or horse as sometimes things may be exactly opposite to what they first appear.
Her practical ideas will help inspire the horseless rider to look for ways to keep riding and working with horses.
