Flooding - One of Winters Many Woes
Most people do not know this, but flooding happens more often in the winter months of the year.
The reason is because temperatures change so fast.
Your creeks or lakes could freeze over and then thaw enough to break up the ice, sending it down stream to plug some outlet somewhere else.
If enough of this ice and anything else it might pick up along the way, will plug this outlet causing this area to flood.
You might not have the needed moisture in your area, but this moving current can send this flooding to places several miles down river or stream.
This nasty mess of water and ice can get into your home causing you to need someone to come and clean up all of this mess.
If you do not know what might be in this water, make sure that you have on high legging boots to protect your feet and legs before you take one step into your home.
Depending on how far this water traveled might depend on what you find in this mess.
It will also depend on what part of the country you live in.
If you just do not want to mess with it, get someone else.
A lot of times this water will be just too cold for some people to even want to get in.
If your ground is inundated with water, the rest that is still coming will stand on the ground leaving puddles.
More rain or flooding will make these puddles merge together making bigger puddles and so on until you will see this large body of water.
If this should happen several times you might want to put in some kind of drainage ditch that will help this water from getting into your home or basement.
It is also important to have some kind of insurance to help you cover the damages for this flood.
When you have this flood, you will need a water damage company to come in and clean up this mess.
You will need to get into the home as soon as possible to keep from having the next problem show up and that is mold.
It will set in really quick with-in 24 to 48 hours depending on the temperature in and around your home.
If you get enough water in your home, you will need to have someone check all of your appliances as this water will destroy them.
Worry about yourself first and the rest later.
