This project is best made with a rolled-out cookie like Holiday Shortbread Recipe or Polish Rolled Butter Cookie Recipe. I discovered Fancy Flours wafer papers and fell in love with them. They take a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it goes quickly. Kids will love the retro look of these Easter papers -- chicks, bunnies, eggs and more. Kids will need help with the decorating process, but they'll be so proud.
The baked and cooled cookies must be frosted with buttercream or royal icing, or covered with fondant. Then the back side of the cut-out wafer paper is brushed with piping gel or white corn syrup and placed on the iced cookie. Then it's time to decorate the raw edges!
