How to Reset Windows Media Player Codecs
- 1). Click the "Start" button in Windows XP and click "Control Panel." Double-click "Add or Remove Programs."
Click the "Windows" logo in Vista and Windows 7. Type "Programs" in the "Start Search" box and hit "Enter." Click "Programs and Features" in the results area. - 2). Scroll down the list and click on anything with "Codec" or "Codec Pack" in the title. Click "Uninstall" to remove the codec.
- 3). Restart your computer when all codecs have been removed. The Windows Media Player will be reset to the default codecs.
