How to Bend the Top Rails on an AK Flat
- 1). Place your top rail flat in the jig sideways so that the edge you are going to bend faces out. Secure it in place using the jig clamps.
- 2). Hold your putty knife over the base of the rail, then tap the putty knife and the top rail with your ball peen hammer until there is a slight bend. The putty knife acts as a buffer, preventing your top rail from getting dents in it.
- 3). Continue working down the edge of the top rail from the base, tapping with the ballpeen hammer to the putty knife and top rail until there is a tapered bend all along the edge.
- 4). Repeat this process, applying slightly more pressure each time until you have created the necessary bend for your AK flat.
