Homemade Mixtures to Get Rid of Caterpillars
- Stir 1 tablespoon of molasses into 1 liter of water until it dissolves. Add 1 teaspoon of dish-washing liquid or liquid soap. Transfer the liquid to a spray can, and liberally spray all of your plants. Repeat the spraying daily. The caterpillars will begin to starve because they refuse to eat plants coated in this mixture.
- Blend 2 cups of water with 1 cup of dried, or 2 cups of fresh, chilies. Spray this mixture directly onto the caterpillars to kill them.
- Mix 1/2 cup of dish-washing liquid or liquid soap with with 500 milliliters of vegetable oil. This mixture can be stored for later. Shake well before use, and add 1 tablespoon of mixture to 1 liter of water. Spray this onto the caterpillars to suffocate them, but do not spray in sunny weather as it could scorch the leaves of plants.
- Take 1 liter of warm water and mix in 2 tablespoons of soap flakes until completely dissolved. Spray this onto the caterpillars to kill them.
- Crush 3 large garlic cloves and mix them with 1 liter of water. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and 1 teaspoon of dish-washing liquid or liquid soap. This mixture must be left to mature for at least 12 hours. Spray the mixture onto your plants daily; it acts as a caterpillar repellent.
