Okay, so we know we can make puppets out of brown paper lunch sacks, but what else? Here are two new easy crafts that are a lot of fun for older children (ages 8 and above) in before & after school child care center programs, home-schoolers and weekend crafters.
Bedside Night Light Materials Needed:
  • 1 brown paper lunch bag
  • Pinking shears
  • Special design hole punchers such as stars and animals
  • 1 LED tea light
Instructions: Step 1: Measuring down 6", cut top off of bag using pinking shears Step 2: Use hole punchers to make holes in sack, making up your own design, symmetrically or otherwise Step 3: Open bag fully and place LED tea light in bottom Step 4: Enjoy a safe bedside night light that can be turned on and off Option: Using a regular hole punch, punch holes 1" from top of bag 1" apart and then thread with colorful yarn.
Paper Bag Pot - Don't use the paper sack just to hold a clay pot - use it for the pot! Materials Needed:
  • 1 brown paper lunch bag
  • 1 quart size Ziploc
  • Small pebbles
  • Potting soil
  • Flower, herb or grass seeds
Instructions: Step 1: Very carefully fold down sack 6 times, making 1" folds Step 2: Place Ziploc in lunch bag, folding over edges onto the sack Step 3: Place a thin layer of pebbles in bottom Step 4: Place 2 cups of potting soil inside sack Step 5: Put a few seeds in soil and water lightly Step 6: Put in a lighted area and watch it grow!
