Healthy Organic Breakfast Foods
- There's nothing tastier, easier or healthier than a bowl of organic fruit salad. Choose organic fruits in season, or thaw out frozen organic fruit and mix ahead for a tasty breakfast treat. Try the following:
1 cup blueberries
2 cups strawberries
2 apples, diced
1 cup mangoes, diced
2 cups cantaloupe, diced
1 cup raspberries
Mix together. This makes about 8 cups of fruit salad that stores well in the refrigerator for several days.
Add a sliced banana and either organic yogurt or organic cottage cheese to each individual serving. - Try mixing organic yogurt with a flavored granola. There are many granolas available online and at your natural food store that offer such delicious flavors as cherry vanilla, ginger, and cranberry.
- A trip to the natural food store can yield an easy and organic alternative to expensive instant oatmeal packages. You can buy organic quick oats, raw sugar (demerara sugar), organic nonfat dried milk and any number of natural fruits and nuts to add to the oatmeal.
To make one serving of instant oatmeal, mix the following:
1/4 cup organic quick oats
1 tbsp. organic nonfat dried milk
2 tsp. demerara sugar
You can then add any of the following: 1 tbsp. dried organic cranberries and 1 tbsp. crushed organic walnuts; 1 tbsp. dried organic bananas (broken into pieces) and 1 tbsp. crushed organic walnuts; 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and 1 tbsp. crushed organic pecans; or 1 tbsp. dried organic blueberries
Each serving can be put into a plastic sandwich bag and stored for weeks, ready to go.
To cook, add 1 cup of water and microwave for about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Add organic milk and butter, if desired.
