Insurance brokers serve as intermediaries between insurance buyers and insurance companies. Brokerages range in size from very large to very small. The world's 14 largest insurance brokerages are listed below. While some of the companies are based outside the United States, all have business operations in the U.S.

The brokerages are listed in descending order based on 2013 revenue. The revenue information was complied by Finacord and published by Insurance Journal.


Finaccord is a market research and consulting company based in London. Insurance Journal is a U.S. based publisher of property/casualty insurance news.

In April of 2015 Willis (third largest brokerage) extended an offer to buy Gras Savoye (currently number 10 on the list). Assuming that the purchase is completed, the French brokerage will become part of Willis. Also, in April of 2014 Arthur J. Gallagher (fourth largest brokerage) purchased an Australian brokerage named OAMPS. Before OAMPS was acquired by Gallagher, it was the world's 15th largest broker.
