Replacing the GE Washing Machine Super Capacity Belt
- 1). Disconnect the power cord before working on the GE washing machine.
- 2). Remove the screws around the edge of the rear panel with a Phillips screwdriver. Lift the rear panel off, and set it aside.
- 3). Loosen the coupler clamp by the water pump with a Phillips screwdriver. The pump is on the left side of the washer cabinet. Push the coupler aside to allow room to access the belt.
- 4). Tilt the washer against the wall to get access to the bottom of the washer.
- 5). Loosen the bolts holding the motor in place with a socket wrench. Slide the belt off two pulleys.
- 6). Position the new belt around the pulleys. Tighten the motor bolts.
- 7). Lower the GE super capacity washer back to its feet. Move the coupler back into its original position. Tighten the coupler clamp.
- 8). Replace the rear panel. Install the screws holding the panel in place.
