Campground Review
The best thing about this campground is it is among the redwood forest. It is what they call the newer growth but they are still big. There's lots of shade and big stumps that were cut down in the 1800's. They are very old and some date back 2000 years. The stumps have a life of their own with ferns and green foliage growing on them.
The kids love to climb on them and some have different shapes. My son really liked watching the banana slugs that were everywhere in the morning. They are really interesting to watch. It really is a beautiful campground with lots of nice campsites. All have little wooden cabinets to keep food in because of the bears (but we never saw any). They have nice showers and plenty of bathrooms that are cleaned every day. In the evenings there is a fireside chat program with a ranger. They play little games and show slides about the area. They have a different subject every night. There is also a Jr. Ranger program for the kids.
My family really love it at Mill Creek and it is only 7 miles from Crescent City where we can go for supplies and enjoy the coast too, as well as other sights there. We especially are happy about Mill Creek Campground because it is close to the big redwoods. There are lots of nature walks through the redwood forest and nearby is Trees of Mystery. This is a wonderful place to visit.
