How to Use a Tambour Door
- 1). Tambour doors can create an attractive kitchen space, especially in the corners with a lot of surface area not used for preparing food. Sometimes kitchen counters have a short length between an appliance and a bank of cabinets, where you can put in a tambour door to hide countertop appliances like toasters, coffee grinders, stand mixers or blenders. Putting the small appliances in one place, hidden behind a tambour door, keeps them out of sight and cleaner, since drips, spills and dust can't reach them.
- 2). Put a tambour door on an open-shelved bookcase to keep the dust off the books and add interest to the bookcase. If you have cabinets in the garage with open shelving, put in a tambour door that locks to restrict access to harmful products like solvents, paint or other chemicals.
- 3). Put tambour doors in your home entertainment center to keep your electronics dust-free and out of sight. These doors can add an accent to the entertainment center and help you bring a new look to a room.
