Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Spencer Barnes, celebrity makeup artist. Today, I'm going to show you how to apply makeup to eyes. Here are some guidelines for a polished, every day eye. Start by perfecting the brows. Next, shade and contour the eye using a little bit of color for dimension. And Third, finish the eye with the lash line, liner and mascara, to give it a crisp finished look. So lets start with the eye shadow. I'll be using the "All Expertwear" by Maybelline. To start the eye shadow I applied a little bit of loose powder underneath the eye to catch the bold fall out from this color we chose for the top lid. Then I applied the top color right into the lash line, all the way up to the crease on both eyes. So next I'll use this pale blue, gray and I'll put it right underneath her eye, into the lash line, across the bottom two thirds of her eye. By using a paler shade under the eye it will keep it from getting too heavy, and too smoky. Similarly to a liner, you can use a powder shadow underneath the eye to create a little more dimension. Typically when I do this I'll put the liner inside the eye. So I'm using the powder on the outer part of the eye, close to the lash line to catch the light. Now that the shadows are complete we're going to finish the look with mascara and liner. So lets go ahead, and with mascara, and work it into the lash line. When I'm doing mascara I like to come from underneath, working at the root, and then come from the top, to make sure the tops are colored as well. Smooth them into place, spreading the lashes as I go. This adds volume, it helps separate the lashes, and it assures that they're very black. As a final step, I'm going to use a waterproof liner to set the eye line and make it crisp. Notice I'm using the liner right on the inside wet part of the eye. I want to make sure that her lash line is very black. So I'll use this stiff brush to whisk away the powder that I had set on her eyes earlier, and with it, whisk away the fall out from all the eye shadow. And there you have it, we've completed Ebony's look. It's a beautiful, bold, colorful eye shadow statement. And that's how to apply makeup to eyes. I'm Spencer Barnes, and thank you for watching.
