Correct Colors

• In Chinese decor, traditional colors include green, red, yellow, blue, gold and black. You can paint all the walls one of these colors, or paint the color on just one accent wall. In Japanese culture, the color combination of blue and white is common, and the combination of red and white signifies good luck. You can paint three walls white and have a red or blue accent wall, or paint all the walls white and use red or blue accents around the bedroom.
  
  

Proper Pictures

• Murals are always an eye-catching feature. In your bedroom, hire an artist to paint an Asian-inspired mural or try it yourself. Look at paintings in books and online for inspiration. Typically, such murals may feature views of mountains or gardens; animals, such as dragons, fish and birds; and bodies of water like rivers, lakes and oceans. Or try painting flowers and trees. In Japanese culture, favored blooms include plum blossoms, daisies, cherry tree flowers and chrysanthemums. For the Chinese, azalea flowers signify wealth; lotus, success; orchids, virtue and elegance; and narcissus, purity.
  
  

Lovely Letters

• The characters of Japanese and Chinese alphabets are very pretty. Try using them as art in the bedroom. If you have a favorite saying, have it translated and painted on an accent wall. Or paint just one word or several words: "believe," "laughter and light," "family and friends," or something similarly inspiring and meaningful. You can repeat one symbol or character on all four walls.
