How to Tune Ukuleles
- 1). Know your instrument. You need to know what pitch corresponds to each string. On a ukulele, the pitches are G, C, E and A.
- 2). Tune the ukulele with a tuner by tightening the sting if the pitch needs to be higher or loosening the string if the pitch needs to be lower.
- 3). You could also tune all the strings with the instrument itself. This is sometimes quick, but it might take a while to get the method. This method uses your on ears to tune the instrument. On the E string, you can press the fifth fret to get your A. The third fret on the E string is a G, so you can tune your G string. Finally, press the fourth fret on the C string, and that should be an E.
- 4). Play some chords. You need to listen to the chords to make sure every note is in tune before you play or practice. Getting every note in tune will make a very rich-sounding ukulele.
