Colors

• Bring your monster costume to life by using a variety of colored makeup and face paints. Choose an overall color for your costume, such as green for Frankenstein, and use a makeup sponge to cover your face from jaw to hairline with the paint. Make your face look hollow by putting black makeup under your cheek bones and jaw line and accentuating the natural creases in your face, including the corners of your mouth. Paint around your eyes with a color that will make them pop, such as red or blue.
  
  

Designs

• Create designs on your face to further the monstrous look. Use an eyeliner to draw scales all around the face by making small Vs or Ws with the makeup. Add an extra eye to your forehead by drawing the oval shape in eyeliner and filling it in with whatever colors you choose. Many monsters might also have scars, which you can create by drawing a line with stitches running across it. For a gory look, add red paint around these wounds to make them look fresh.
  
  

Textures

• Add texture to your monster makeup as an extra element to the costume. Make your skin look lumpy with liquid latex. Use a sponge to spread the latex over your skin. Before it dries, fray a cotton ball or wrinkle tissue all over the area and then cover it with another thick layer of the liquid latex. You can use the same materials to create warts or wrinkles on the skin by rolling tissue into globs and covering them with liquid latex. Paint over the area with face paint to pull together this monstrous look.
  
  

Body

• To really commit to the costume, decorate any skin you have showing to resemble a monster. Use the same color of face paint you used on your face to cover your hands, neck and ankles, if they're showing. Paint your fingernails a color that will enhance the costume, too. Draw scars and wounds along your arms and legs and again use eyeliner to create scales. This paint might rub off on your clothes, so only apply this method if you don't mind your costume getting discolored.
